Our Mission
The LAUNCH Program's mission is to attract and cultivate basic, translational, and clinical scientists who are superbly trained to think creatively and collaboratively and to innovate in KUH disciplines. To achieve our mission, we will build upon the long-standing track record of collaboration, training, and interdisciplinary research that span our four institutions in Northern California. Within these exceptional environments, the LAUNCH Program will address the needs of our KUH Scholars through the creation of new offerings while also expanding access to the high-quality, existing resources available across our institutions.
Our Aims are:
- To identify and recruit the most promising and diverse group of Scholars.
- To provide our LAUNCH Scholars with outstanding basic, translational, or clinical research training; and to present a pathway towards independence via tailored professional development and networking programs that foster a strong sense of research self-efficacy and positive career outcome expectation.
- To encourage team-based approaches to scientific inquiry and training, building upon the existing cadre of outstanding mentors and scientists from diverse disciplines to affect meaningful and innovative scientific discoveries.
